Liverpool need just one more win to progress through to the Champions League knockout stages after a perfect start to their group stage campaign.

The Reds have already created a five-point gap between themselves and trailing sides Atletico Madrid and Porto, who have four points each.

A win would see the Merseyside club into the next phase, and even a draw against Atletico on Wednesday night would all but confirm their place in the last 16 should AC Milan beat Porto in the other Group B tie.

Jurgen Klopp’s side suffered a disappointing draw at home to Brighton on Saturday, so will be looking to get back to winning ways.

Diego Simeone’s side have lost just one of their 11 La Liga games this season but have made a mixed start in Europe, with one win, one draw and one loss from their first three group games – the latest being a 3-2 home defeat to the Reds a fortnight ago.

Team news

Jurgen Klopp’s midfield issues continue as it’s been confirmed that Naby Keita won’t be fit for the contest against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday, after being withdrawn during the first half against Brighton on Saturday with a hamstring injury.

Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara have both returned to training this week and Klopp has admitted they are both in contention.

James Milner and Harvey Elliot remain out.

Diego Simeone will be without Griezmann for the trip to Merseyside, who is serving the suspension he picked up from the reverse fixture a fortnight ago.

This could mean that former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez will lead the line on his return to Anfield.

Stefan Savic is also suspended, while Marcos Llorente (unfit), Thomas Lemar and Geoffrey Kondogbia (concussion) are all likely to miss out too.
