Westlife ’s Mark Feehily has shared the secret to his lasting and unbreakable friendships with band members Nicky Byrne, Shane Filan, and Kian Egan.

The Starlight singer, 41, revealed that the Irish boyband are ‘stronger than ever’ ahead of their upcoming UK and Ireland tour.

Speaking exclusively to the Mirror at the Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards , the much-loved singer admitted that the life-long pals rarely argue, but when they do, it’s resolved with a playful punch on the arm.

“Do you know what, I’d say we’re closer now that we have ever been, and that’s probably down to the pandemic,” Mark revealed.

“We didn’t get to see each other for so long, so when we did actually meet up, it made us appreciate each other even more than we already had over the past 23 years.

Shane, Mark, Nicky, and Kian have been friends for over 25 years

“We never fight – it’s always just good craic with us. Now, we could have a bit of a tiff now and again, but over small, stupid things. But the next time we see each other it’s completely forgotten about. We’d give each other an old punch on the arm and laugh it off.

“We’ve never been in a better place to be honest. A friendship like this is one that will last forever. There’s no doubt about it.”

Mark, Nicky, Shane, and Kian sent their fans into meltdown earlier this week when they announced their long-awaited UK and Ireland tour – and the singer couldn’t be any more excited to get back out on the road again.

“Yeah, it’s been a long time coming,” Mark laughed.

“We had actually been planning on doing the tour before Covid struck, but it all got pushed back obviously. In a way, I’m grateful for that because it makes it all the more special now – that time really put things into perspective for everyone, I think.

“We were doing zooms together all throughout the pandemic and trying to put things in action – writing and getting things on track. It was difficult, but it’s going to be an incredible tour and we’re all so excited to be back out on the road again.”

Lifting the lid on Westlife’s incredible performance during the Pride of Britain ceremony, Mark said that it was an honour to sing in front some of the bravest and deserving people in the UK.

“It was an honour. The people here tonight put things into perspective, and the hairs on the back of my neck were standing up all night long listening to their stories. God, it’s amazing. It reminds you that there’s so much good in the world still.

“Getting back on stage with the boys for an event like this is very special too.”
