Wendy Williams breaks silence on health crisis and vows to ‘return to purple chair’

Wendy Williams has spoken out for the first time since news broke on her health crisis and vowed to return to her show.

The 57-year-old’s talk show, The Wendy Williams Show, is currently being hosted by comedian Michael Rapaport.

Two months ago, her team also released a statement saying that the star was “continuing her health evaluations”.

She has now taken to her Instagram page to reassure fans that she will be returning to her famous purple chair.

“HOW YOU DOIN’? I MISS YOU ALL! As everyone knows, my health has been a hot topic,” she said. “I’m making progress but it’s just one of those things that’s taking longer than we expected.

“I’m a woman of a certain age, and I know enough to listen to my doctors and will return to my purple chair as soon as we all agree I’m ready.”

Wendy added: “I want to thank all of my staff and our guest hosts for stepping up and stepping in while I can’t be there. I also want to thank Debmar-Mercury and our stations for being so understanding and supportive while I work my way back.

“Most of all, I want to thank my fans. I have heard your prayers and comments and feel all the love! You are everything to me.

“I love spending my mornings with you all and I’m doing everything I can to get back to work, but right now Wendy has to focus on Wendy. I love you for watching…”

Fans were concerned when they saw pictures of Wendy sitting in a wheelchair with swollen legs outside her apartment in New York City.

In September, an ambulance was seen outside her home.

Wendy’s brother Tommy recently released a video on his YouTube channel explaining her situation.

And, while he didn’t explain what his sister was in the hospital for, Tommy said that the star is “fighting” to get better.

In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Tommy said: “Thank you all for the kind words.

“I really do believe and have the faith that Wendy’s going to make it. It’s not an easy fight.

“It’s not one that individuals always win. Sadly, come November, we are on the anniversary of my mother’s passing.”

He continued: “It’s not easy. This isn’t easy but it’s necessary. She’s doing well. Stable. I’ve spoken with her, and we’re hanging in there. She’s hanging in there. We’re praying. She’s fighting.”
