Taylor Swift Now Claims The Two Bestselling Albums Of 2021 In The U.S.

Taylor Swift is back at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart this week, as Fearless (Taylor’s Version) leaps up the ranking of the most-consumed full-lengths in the U.S. The title moved an incredible 152,000 equivalent units in the past tracking frame, with an astounding 146,000 of those being pure purchases of one format or another. That’s an especially impressive sum for a project that was released half a year ago and which has already topped the tally.

With 146,000 new sales to the title’s credit, Fearless (Taylor’s Version) moves up on the list of the albums that have actually sold the most copies so far this year, coming in right behind a very familiar name.

According to Billboard, Swift now claims the Nos. 1 and 2 bestselling albums in the U.S. in 2021, proving her popularity and power in one more fashion. The magazine and chart company states that Fearless (Taylor’s Version) has now sold 400,000 copies in America since its release in April. That makes it the bestselling title that was released this year, as the winner so far was actually dropped in very late 2020.

The bestelling album in the U.S. in 2021 is Swift’s Evermore, which she released last December. The second of two surprise full-lengths (following Folklore several months prior), the follow-up was also a powerful seller from the moment it arrived, and it easily went right to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 as well. Despite the fact that it came out before this year began, Evermore still stands as the bestselling full-length of 2021, having sold 434,000 copies.

As if claiming the two bestselling albums of the year wasn’t enough of a show of force, another one of Swift’s recent releases also ranks as a top performer. Folklore, which was released back in July of 2020, currently ranks as the seventh-bestselling title of 2021, as it has sold 228,000 copies, on top of the hundreds of thousands it sold last year.

Evermore and Fearless (Taylor’s Version) may be the bestsellers of 2021 so far, but the year isn’t over yet, and there is at least one release expected that will likely beat them both. Adele’s new era is about to begin, as her comeback single “Easy on Me” arrives this coming Friday (October 15), and her new album 30 is expected before 2022. Chances are great that it will become the bestselling release of the year in perhaps just a few days, or maybe a week, if her last full-length’s performance is any indication of how well things will go straight away.
