Suranne Jones nervous on tube as her crippling anxiety ‘spikes’ at random times

Suranne Jones opened up about feeling anxious as she took the London underground recently.

The Vigil actress revealed that her anxiety can sometimes ‘spike’ and appear at seemingly random times or while she’s doing random tasks.

She took to Instagram this week to share a selfie on the escalators of the underground.

“Nervous on the tube this morning,” the 43-year-old captioned the honest post.

“My anxiety can spike and catch me unawares but I knew there were two beautiful women on the other side who just filled me up with love. Take time to be with your friends. #nojudgementzone #womenarewonderful #healing #buildyourpower”

Suranne has battled anxiety for years and has been open about what she goes through.

Back in August, Suranne revealed she has been taking medication following her breakdown and the loss of both her parents.

Suranne sadly lost her dad in January after he battled Covid, while her mum died five years ago.

“I’m on medication and, at some point, I’ll aim to get off that,” she told Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place podcast.

The actress continued: “I think there’s a huge taboo around it and I wasn’t going to say it but I decided last night I should because it’s important I think.”

Ex-Corrie star Suranne explained she was put on medication after her mum’s death as she became too unwell.

Her husband Laurence Akers was unable to help her at the time, which later resulted in Suranne having a breakdown backstage of a theatre show in 2018.

Things were starting to look up for Suranne when she starred in BBC’s Gentleman Jack and she was then able to come off her medication.

But earlier this year, she went back on them following the death of her dad.

Speaking about her anxiety, Suranne explained she suffers in social situations and ends up sweating, as well as talking in a posh voice.

Describing a scenario, Suranne told Fearne: “The sweat started and the voice came out. I was like, ‘Oh God, stop doing that!'”

The actress went on to say how keeping your mind healthy is as important as ‘going to the gym’ is for the body.

“Looking after your mental health is everything. It’s like going to the gym, it’s about looking after yourself, recognising changes before what happened to me during Frozen, and what happens to Victoria,” Suranne explained.
