Strictly: Adam Peaty thanks fans as he returns to training with Katya

Strictly Come Dancing stars Adam Peaty and Katya Jones are back in the dance studio for rehearsals following their drama-filled weekend.

The dancing duo sent fans into meltdown on Saturday night when it looked like the Olympic swimmer leaned in for a kiss with the Russian dancer after their intimate Tango.

Ignoring the gossip and unavoidable ‘Strictly curse’ chat, both Adam and Katya took to social media this morning to show it was business as normal as they begin to prepare for the next live show.

Speaking on his Instagram Stories, dad-of-one Adam told his followers he was looking forward to learning a “new dance” with his 32-year-old Strictly co-star.

“So it’s Monday morning and a new dance – a new, hard Monday,” the athlete began his update to his fans online.

He went on to explain how Monday can be a hard day but pledged to “get there” as he prepares to master a new routine.

“I’m really looking forward to this dance,” he continued during his chat with his followers.

After wishing his Instagram followers a great week, Adam then went on to tag Katya in his next update, where he thanks the voting public for putting them through to the next round on Strictly Come Dancing.

“Also, I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who voted, everyone who got us through,” he gushed.

“It’s just going to be hopefully another incredible dance. I don’t know anything about the chorography on this one but let’s hope it’s good.”

Katya seemed to echo her dancing partner’s sentiments, adding his post to her own Instagram Story.

The pair have been impressing judges and viewers with their performances on the live shows

Adam’s cheery social media update comes after the star posted a warning on Twitter to anyone reading too much into his ‘near-kiss’ with his co-star on Saturday night.

BBC One viewers were left gobsmacked as the professional swimmer seemed to lean to kiss Katya after their intimate performance to Fleetwood Mac’s hit, Tango in the Night.

After the online speculation about the moment began to trend , Adam took to Twitter to dismiss rumours and gossip.

“My favourite dance so far. Thank you to everyone who has sent supporting messages! I loved it,” Adam tweeted shortly after his much-talked about performance.

“To everyone who wants to see what they want, your comments have real life consequences.

“I will not be overcome or lowered by your gossip. Protect your energy.”

Adam’s partner also reacted to the ‘near-kiss’ over on TikTok.

Eiri Munro, who shares one-year-old son George-Anderson with the swimmer, poked fun at the situation and proved she had a good sense of humour.

Adam’s girlfriend seems to be unphased by all the drama

Sharing a clip of herself appearing to cry, she wrote: “Watching your boyfriend almost kiss another woman on live tv… Finding out 10 million people also watched it live.”

The so-called ‘Strictly curse’ has impacted a number of celebrities over the years, including Ricky Whittle, Matt Di Angelo and even Adam’s partner Katya.

In 2018, the professional dancer was snapped enjoying a kiss with her then celebrity dance partner, comedian Seann Walsh.

At the time of the incident, Seann was in a relationship and Katya was married to fellow Strictly dancer Neil Jones.

Katya and Neil went on to split but remain good friends and both still work together on the hit BBC series.
