Paris Saint-Germain’s summer signing, Sergio Ramos could finally make his first appearance for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, in their Champions League match against Manchester City
Sergio Ramos could be set to make his first Paris Saint-Germain appearance when Mauricio Pochettino’s side face Manchester City in the Champions League.
The legendary Spanish defender’s sensational move to the Parc des Princes from Real Madrid has been hijacked by injuries.
He was part of an incredible transfer window which also saw Achraf Hakimi, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Georginio Wijnaldum, and Lionel Messi move to the French capital.
Unfortunately for Ramos, and Pochettino’s men, he is still being blighted by the same calf injury which disrupted his final season with Los Blancos.
However, he may finally be set to take to the field in a PSG shirt for the first time, as he has been included in the squad to face Pep Guardiola’s side.

If he does come on against the reigning Premier League champions, it would be the first time he has played competitive football since May.
His last appearance came in Real Madrid’s Champions League semi-final second leg against Chelsea, which saw the Blues overcome the 13-time European Champions 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.
However, Pochettino was quick to emphasise the World Cup winner’s inclusion in the Parisians’ squad does not necessarily mean he will take to the field.
“I do not know,” Pochettino told Amazon Prime Video when asked about Ramos’ chances of playing.
“It’s important to see how he progresses. It’s one thing being able to train and another being at the level to be competitive, it’s not the same.”
Ramos only started training with his new side a couple of weeks ago, despite joining the French giants in the summer.
PSG were hoping he would be fit enough to be included in the squad for their recent 3-1 home victory against Nantes.
However, he was not deemed to be ready for inclusion, and watched another PSG fixture from the stands.
His lack of availability this season has been an enormous frustration for the PSG chiefs.
He is estimated to have pocketed at least £4m since arriving into the French capital, despite not having kicked a ball in competitive action for the current Ligue One leaders.
It was also reported by Le Parisien the club were even considering tearing up his current deal at the Parc des Princes.
The French outlet claimed PSG club chiefs felt they had made a mistake signing the 35-year-old on a free transfer in the summer.
“The trust that some placed in the defender at the time of his signing, or even after his calf injury a few weeks later, is no longer unshakable today,” reads the report in Le Parisien.
However, ending the defender’s existent contract at the club would likely be a very difficult process which may require an agreement to be made between the club and Ramos.
Nevertheless, the club will be hoping he can return to some kind of peak fitness soon, as his experience in this season’s Champions League campaign would be invaluable.
While PSG are strolling Ligue One having amassed an 11 point gap between themselves and second placed Nice, they are currently in second place in Group A, just one point behind City.
