Instagram star Saskia Connery paid tribute to the late James Bond actor Sir Sean Connery on Sunday, one year on from his passing on 31 October 2020
Sir Sean Connery was remembered by his family over the weekend, as Sunday marked the first anniversary of the late actor’s passing.
Saskia Connery, granddaughter of the James Bond icon, took to Instagram to pay tribute to the Scottish actor one year on since his death.
The aspiring influencer shared a series of previously unseen personal snaps of the star, as she told her 20,900 followers how she misses her “best friend” everyday.
Saskia, who is the daughter of the James Bond star’s stepson, posted a number of adorable pictures of herself with the late star, spanning a range of years.
“One year without my best friend. Love you forever and miss you every day,” the 25-year-old captioned one of the Instagram Stories.
In one of the images shared, Saskia can be seen tenderly planting on Sir Sean’s cheek prior to his death, with the Golden Globe winner beaming for the camera.
In contrast, the Instagram star shared a similar snap taken decades previously in 2000, where a four-year-old Saskia also planted a kiss on her actor grandfather’s cheek.
Saskia also remembered her late grandfather with several more snaps from the Connery family album, as she marked one year on from his sad death.
The Hollywood icon was said to be suffering from respiratory failure when he passed away at the age of 90 last year.
Born in 1930, the Scottish star became best known for being the first ever actor to portray the iconic British secret agent James Bond on screen.
The late actor starred as the 007 icon in seven Bond productions between 1962 and 1983; his first appearance in Dr. No and his final outing as the much-loved spy in Never Say Never Again.
Upon his passing in October 2020, Hollywood mourned his death – with a number of famous faces rushing to pay tribute to the legendary actor.
Speaking in a statement, fellow James Bond actor Daniel Craig dubbed the late star one of the “true greats” of the industry.
“It is with such sadness that I heard of the passing of one of the true greats of cinema,” the departing 007 star said.
“Sir Sean Connery will be remembered as Bond and so much more. He defined an era and a style.”
The 53-year-old actor went on to credit the much-loved Scot with still influencing his peers to this day.
He added “The wit and charm he portrayed on screen could be measured in megawatts; he helped create the modern blockbuster.
He will continue to influence actors and film-makers alike for years to come.”
“My thoughts are with his family and loved ones. Wherever he is, I hope there is a golf course,” he sombrely concluded.
Hugh Jackman also paid tribute to the late thespian.
“I grew up idolizing #SeanConnery,” the Australian actor began his tweet regarding Sir Sean’s death.
“A legend on screen, and off. Rest In Peace.”
