Sarah Jayne Dunn opens up on OnlyFans and Hollyoaks exit

Sarah Jayne Dunn’s husband is fully in her corner after she was axed from Hollyoaks for joining OnlyFans.

This week, reports emerged that actress Sarah has been let go from the soap by Channel 4 as she refused to delete her OnlyFans page.

The star is said to have been issued a warning after bosses said that her raunchy content did not fit in with their wholesome show aimed at young audiences.

Sarah, who has appeared on Hollyoaks on-and-off as Mandy Richardson since 1996, reportedly left the soap after being unable to “reach a solution” with bosses.

And on Sunday, Sarah took to her Instagram Stories to reveal that her partner, Jonathan Smith, is “proud” of her following her departure from the soap.

She uploaded a snap of a sweet message penned on a whiteboard from the father of her children that read: ” “Pom I am so proud of you.”

Jonathan added a heart shape and kisses to the cute note, and proving that Sarah is thankful for her supportive spouse she typed atop of the upload: “When your hubby has your back.”

On Thursday, Sarah broke her silence after reportedly being sacked from Hollyoaks,

The actress posted on her Instagram Story a message to her followers, in which she said: “Thank you for your support”.

Sarah, who had posed for a number of lads mags earlier in her career, had said that she was using OnlyFans as a platform for her “racier images”.

It comes after reports the star was axed from Hollyoaks for having an OnlyFans page

She said: “This is a decision I’ve thought long and hard about, not one I’ve taken lightly or on a whim, it’s about taking back control, about empowerment and confidence and having full power over my choices.”

It would seem that this was at loggerheads with the perception the soap bosses had of her decision.

A source told The Sun : “Nobody at the show wishes to condemn people’s personal decisions about OnlyFans or online content – and of course women are totally free to make their own choices about the sort of photographs they wish to take of themselves – but this was about whether it is something that tallies with the show’s audience.”

A Hollyoaks spokesperson told the publication: “Hollyoaks is a youth-facing drama with many young viewers, who follow our cast very closely, both in the soap and outside of it.

“We take our responsibility to our young audience very seriously and therefore the show does not allow any Hollyoaks cast members to be active on certain 18+ websites.

“We had hoped we could reach a resolution with Sarah that would allow her to remain in her role as Mandy, but we respect her choice to continue to produce content on OnlyFans.”

Sarah has played Mandy in Hollyoaks for more than 20 years

Since the news broke, several enraged fans have taken to social media to blast Hollyoaks for their decision.

Many pointed out that the actress should be allowed to do what she wants when not on set of the soap and pointed out how the show used to flog official Hollyoasks calendars filled with sexy snaps of the stars clad in lingerie.

One puzzled fan penned: “So #Hollyoaks have sacked Sarah Jayne Dunn for posting racy pictures on OnlyFans – yet over the years, they’ve released their racy ‘babes and hunks’ calendars.”

Another wrote: “Hollyoaks axing @sarahjaynedunn for having onlyfans. Also Hollyoaks:” alongside snaps of past Hollyoaks calendar covers.

A third added: “So Sarah Jayne Dunn gets sacked for profiteering from selling pictures of her own body, from the very same company that used to release yearly calendars of their actresses posting the exact same content she has been sacked for?? Something doesn’t add up?! #hollyoaks.”
