Piers Morgan tears into ‘ghoulish’ influencer who posed with late dad’s open coffin

Piers Morgan says an influencer posing for sexy photos next to her dead father’s open coffin is officially the worst thing he has ever seen on Instagram

Jayne Rivera was called out for posing next to her dead father’s coffin and she has now felt the wrath of Piers Morgan

Piers Morgan has called out an influencer who posed for sexy photos next to her father’s open coffin, saying it is the “worst thing” he has ever seen on Instagram.

Earlier this week Jayne Rivera, a fitness model from Florida, posted snaps of herself in a low cut one-sleeve black dress at her father’s funeral.

The photos, which were branded “trashy” and “despicable” by other social media users, led to Instagram disabling the 20 year old’s account after they went viral.

Despite the backlash, Jayne has refused to apologise and insists she hasn’t broken any community guidelines.

She claims her father, veteran Jose Antonio Rivera who died aged 56 on October 11, would even have approved of the photos had he still been alive.

“Everyone handles the loss of a loved one in their own ways, some are more traditional while others might come across as taboo,” the influencer told NBC News.

“For me, I treated the celebration as if my father was right next to me, posing for the camera as he had done on many occasions prior.”

She added there was “nothing wrong” with what she posted, adding: “I stand by that.”

Writing in his Daily Mail column, outspoken Piers said while he’d seen some shocking things on the internet in his time, nothing quite prepared him for this.

“There’s something so utterly and repellently distasteful about a young woman exploiting her father’s dead body for ‘likes’ as he literally lies dead behind her.

“Jose Antonio Rivera, 56, was a war veteran whose heroic service to his country alone demanded that his death be greeted with the utmost respect and dignity.

“Instead, he became a trashy tool for a daughter whose addiction to social media and seeking attention and praise from strangers over-rode any sense of basic common decency.”

Piers said in the photos Jayne is seen smirking, praying and posing “as if she’s on a movie premiere catwalk showing off for the paparazzi”.

He added: “But it would be fair to say her ghoulish photos went down like a cup of cold vomit, even among her biggest fans.”

Even when fans called for her to delete the post calling it “sick”, “vile” and “disgusting” – and saying they would unfollow her – she refused to take it down.

Piers wrote: “One said simply that it was ‘the most horrific Instagram post’ they’d ever seen. I agree.”

Questioning why she did it, Piers said: “The answer is addiction.

“Ms Rivera is so deeply embedded into the self-obsessed, often absurdly fake world of social media that she can’t see the humane wood for the inhumane trees.

“I don’t hate her for what she did, I pity her.”

He added: “Who the f*ck uses their father’s corpse for ‘likes’? Someone who needs an urgent lesson in civility.”

The 56-year-old telly star is set to present a new nightly TV show for talkTV after dramatically quitting Good Morning Britain over his Meghan Markle comments in March.

The show promises to “celebrate the right of everyone to have an opinion” and will be broadcast in the UK, US and Australia.
