Piers Morgan still refusing to apologise to ‘Princess Pinocchio’ Meghan Markle

Piers Morgan has doubled down on refusing to apologise to Meghan Markle after a fan begged him to say sorry so he can return to Good Morning Britain.

The former TV presenter quit the ITV show earlier this year after he was told he had to either apologise or leave over the backlash caused by his comments about Meghan.

But Piers won’t say sorry even if it means he can go back on GMB, as he hit out once again at the Duchess of Sussex, who he branded “Princess Pinnochio” in a brutal tweet.

On Wednesday he reposted an article by The Mirror about Good Morning Britain fans pleading with him to return.

Piers said: “Thank you @GMB viewers! I miss you guys too… (and guyesses, people of gender-fluid non-binary guyness etc).”

A fan responded to him asking him to consider apologising to Meghan and “stop sulking” so he could be back on GMB.

They said: “Yes Piers stop sulking, say you’re sorry and come back and make GMB great again.”

But in his reply to the post Piers refused, joking that he’d rather go vegan.

He tweeted: “I’d rather eat vegan sausage rolls for the rest of my life than apologise for disbelieving Princess Pinocchio.”

Back in March, Piers caused over 50,000 complaints, including one from Meghan herself, over his comments about her interview with Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey.

In the candid chat, Meghan said she had suffered with suicidal thoughts and claimed she had been refused help from the Royal Family.

Speaking on GMB, Piers said he didn’t believe she wasn’t supported, saying: “Who did you go to? What did they say to you?

“I’m sorry, I don’t believe a word she said, Meghan Markle. I wouldn’t believe it if she read me weather report.

“The fact that she’s fired up this onslaught against our Royal Family I think is contemptible.”

After a huge backlash, Piers was on GMB the next day with weatherman Alex Beresford, who criticised him for his comments, saying he had a grudge against her for cutting him off after a short friendship.

Alex said: “She’s entitled to cut you off if she wants to. Has she said anything about you since she cut you off? I don’t think she has but yet you continue to trash her.”

This caused Piers to storm off the set, and hours later it was announced that he had quit GMB.

ITV said in a statement: “Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain.

“ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”

Piers then clarified why he left in a tweet, saying: “On Monday, I said I didn’t believe Meghan Markle in her Oprah interview.

“I’ve had time to reflect on this opinion, and I still don’t. If you did, OK.

“Freedom of speech is a hill I’m happy to die on. Thanks for all the love, and hate. I’m off to spend more time with my opinions.”
