Patson Daka has thanked Jamie Vardy for helping make him Leicester ’s record scorer in Europe.

Zambian forward Daka smashed four goals last month in a 4-3 win at Spartak Moscow.

The forward, a £23million summer signing from RB Salzburg, hopes to terrorise the Russian club again on Thursday evening at the King Power Stadium.

Daka, 23, has hailed the help he has received off veteran Foxes’ title-winner Vardy, 34, who has scored 125 Premier League goals.

Daka said: “It has been amazing working with him.

“Being close to him, learning from him – he is a great guy.

“I was talking to him before I even had my first day here.

“He welcomed me and it was a special moment for me.

“I am now here to learn from him and work alongside him.

“I believe there is still a lot more I can learn from him here.”

Daka expects to be closely marked when the bottom club visit in Europa League Group C.

But the striker feels Leicester could yet take advantage if Spartak prioritise him.

He added: “Their focus and attention may be on me but it is a great opportunity for other players in the team.

“If they concentrate on me, they are going to leave other players free.

“Anyone in our team can hurt them- they won’t know what is going to hit them.

“We are not just excited to be here, we want to go far.”

Leicester are looking for maximum points from their next two home games in the Europa League against Moscow and Legia Warsaw to put them back on track to get out of the group.

Boss Brendan Rodgers has Nigerian Wilfred Ndidi in the squad after a hamstring injury in September.

Rodgers feels his side have missed the holding midfielder badly.

Rodgers said: “We need to run harder in certain areas of the field.

“We need to cover the space better.

“If you have someone like Wilf in there that does do that, then that is a real benefit to the team.

“It is great to have him back available but every player knows their responsibility.

“If you are not running, unfortunately you won’t be playing.”
