Jurgen Klopp previews West Ham game

Liverpool have the chance to move to within one point of the Premier League summit on Sunday when they face West Ham.

The Reds were handed a surprise favour by Burnley on Saturday, as they snatched a draw at Chelsea. The 1-1 tie means Thomas Tuchel’s men are just four points clear of Liverpool with a game more played.

West Ham will pose a sizeable test for Jurgen Klopp’s side and they will be well aware that a victory for them would see them leapfrog the Merseyside club into third place over the international break.

With qualification for the Champions League knockout stages secured with a win over Atletico Madrid in midweek, Liverpool’s attentions can be squarely focused on the Premier League over the festive period. Victory on Sunday would set up that spell perfectly.

Here is the latest Liverpool news ahead of that encounter.

Robertson jokes about Salah physique

Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson has joked that Mohamed Salah this has a “bit of body fat to lose yet.”

The Scot shared an image of a topless Salah in the pool and given the condition the Egyptian is in, the remark was evidently made in jest.

Salah has previously spoken about the strict nutrition regime he follow, with the Liverpool star confirming he starts each day with a glass of milk. The former Roma man is also said to enjoy lentils, vegetables, bread and chicken.

The forward has been in incredible goalscoring form for Liverpool this season, with 15 goals bagged in 14 games in all competitions.

Owen expecting Reds win

Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen believes Liverpool will be too good for West Ham when they meet in the Premier League on Sunday.

A trip to the Hammers is one of the biggest tests in English football at the moment, with David Moyes’ side already beating the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur across different competitions this term.

Owen singled out West Ham’s Declan Rice and Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold as the key players for each team on the day and predicted Klopp’s men will just edge it.

“A very hard game to call,” he said. “However, I really like the way Liverpool are playing at the minute and think they can leave London with a win. I’m going for 2-1 Liverpool.

Klopp laments Firmino injury

Liverpool look as though they will be without Firmino for a while after Klopp confirmed his hamstring injury was “serious” ahead of the weekend’s game.

The Brazilian had started the new season well, with a hat-trick at Watford followed by a sensational performance at the point of the attack for the Reds in the 5-0 win over United.

But it looks as though Liverpool will need to find an alternative centre-forward for the time being.
