Manchester United’s clash with arch-rivals Liverpool is the pick of another enthralling weekend of Premier League action, with Michael Owen predicting scorelines for each fixture
Michael Owen has backed Liverpool to prey on Manchester United’s defensive frailties and pick up a narrow win at Old Trafford on Sunday evening.
The two north-west giants head into the fixture on the back of 3-2 victories in midweek, with Liverpool winning at Atletico Madrid and United beating Atalanta.
Neither side was especially convincing in Champions League action, but Jurgen Klopp’s side were likely happier with their performance than the Red Devils were with theirs.
United found themselves 2-0 down at half-time at home to their Italian opposition and it took a dramatic turnaround completed by Cristiano Ronaldo to clinch victory.
Atalanta were able to tear through their hosts’ midfield and expose their defence throughout the fixture, leaving in-form Mohamed Salah licking his lips ahead of this weekend’s Premier League trip.

Owen – who played for both teams during his decorated career – anticipates Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will need to make drastic tactical changes after his side lost their lost top-flight fixture 4-2 at Leicester City.
But the former England striker admits United may find it impossible to contain Salah, who has scored 12 goals in 11 games this season.
Owen told BetVictor: “I can’t wait for this one. Man United were disappointing away at Leicester last week.
“They created some chances but defensively it was far too easy for Leicester to create chances and to play through the United press. They looked too open for me, so Solskjaer will need to adjust the balance of this side.
“There’s only place to start when it comes to Liverpool, Mo Salah. He’s surely the best player in the world right now and that goal last week was sublime. He’s been virtually unplayable this season, so this is a huge ask for the United defence to keep him quiet.

“United will no doubt play better than they did last week, but I still think the Reds can get the win. I’ll say 2-1, will Mo Salah be one of the scorers?”
Elsewhere, Owen tipped league-leaders Chelsea to beat struggling Norwich City 3-0 in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off and Manchester City to win 2-0 at Brighton & Hove Albion in the evening game.
The 41-year-old also expects Newcastle United’s wait for a first win under their new ownership will continue, tipping them to lose 2-1 at Crystal Palace.

In the other 3pm kick-offs, Owen predicts Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers will draw 1-1, Everton will beat Watford 3-1 and Burnley will win 1-0 at Southampton.
Sunday’s early games pit West Ham United against Tottenham Hotspur and Brentford against Leicester.
Owen backed the Irons to win the London derby 2-1 and the Foxes to win on the other side of the capital via the same scoreline.
