Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sacked from Manchester United

Mauricio Pochettino reportedly wants the Manchester United manager’s job NOW because he’s unhappy at Paris Saint-Germain.

Manchester United have made the former Tottenham boss their number one target after they sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday morning.

But the Red Devils have named Michael Carrick in charge for the time being while they look for an interim manager to see out the rest of the season.

United’s plan is to then hire a permanent boss for the foreseeable, with Pochettino at the top of their wishlist.

Mirror Sport revealed that Pochettino is very keen on a move to Man United.

But according to the Daily Mail, the Argentine doesn’t want to wait until the end of the season and wants the vacant Red Devils manager’s job now.

The report claims he is unhappy at Paris Saint-Germain and is living in a hotel room in the French capital while his family are in London.

He is also said to be growing tired of having to manage the big personalities at the club, including, Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Lionel Messi.

Pochettino was linked with the United job after he was sacked by Spurs in 2019 but Solskjaer was performing well as temporary Red Devils boss and was handed the role permanently.

Solskjaer was sacked on Sunday following a heavy 4-1 defeat by Watford in the Premier League.

The defeat followed two humiliating results against rivals Manchester City and Liverpool.

In a message to the United fans, Solskjaer said: “Some have come, some have gone, but all of them, they’ve been such an enjoyable bunch to work with. First of all, I want to thank the board and the owners for giving me the opportunity because it’s not for everyone and I’ve had the opportunity.

“I am so honoured and privileged to have been trusted to take the club forward and I really hope I leave it in a better state when I came. I made great friends, I have reconnected with some great friends and new staff coming in.

“The other stuff that was already here we’ve been good friends and we’ve connected. That’s what it’s about at a club like this with the fans.

“The fans have been amazing from day one at Cardiff until now so, top, and we’ll see each other again.”
