Little Mix and Jesy Nelson row ‘will provide huge boost for their solo music careers’

Jesy Nelson received a lot of backlash since releasing her new solo single, Boyz, which features Nicki Minaj

Little Mix and Jesy Nelson spat will ‘boost their solo careers’, says expert

While Little Mix and Jesy Nelson’s recent row has caused huge upset to their fans, industry insiders are predicting the controversy will be a ‘boost’ to their solo careers.

Last week, Jesy bagged a top 5 hit with her debut single Boyz just days after she was spotted giggling at collaborator Nicki Minaj calling her former bandmate Leigh-Anne Pinnock a ‘clown’ on Instagram live.

The dig came after Jesy revealed Leigh-Anne had warned her about ‘blackfishing’ long before her Boyz music video caused a huge backlash following its release.

After keeping quiet on the matter, Leigh-Anne appeared to address the scandal at her recent 30th birthday bash at the weekend.

In an emotional speech she was heard telling friends and family: “I’m 30 years old. I know my character, you know my character, anyone that meets me knows my f***ing character – and that’s all I care about.”

While her fiancé Andre Gray issued the warning: “If you’re going to try and disrespect my baby mother, my wife, my fiancée and my children, there’s gonna be a problem. That’s how it is.”

Jesy left the group back in December

While the brewing feud has upset fans of Little Mix, who have always been huge advocates of friendship and sisterhood, insiders say the drama could prove very beneficial to their respective solo careers.

An insider claimed the added headlines have been a “great publicity boost for the girls’ music careers”.

“While it’s been a really hard time for them behind the scenes, they’re relieved that at least they’ve come out of it in a good light and their fans have stood behind them,” they told Closer.

“If anything, the sympathy and support they’ve received has boosted their image.”

Jesy quit Little Mix back in December and went on to work on her solo music.

She recently released her new single, Boyz, which received a lot of criticism as fans claimed she was trying to capitalise on black culture and history for her own gain.

The singer was also accused of blackfishing – a term used for people who alter their appearance to appear black or racially ambiguous.

Leaked DMs apparently showed Leigh-Anne Pinnock claiming Jesy blocked the band members.

The screenshot showed Leigh-Anne accusing Jesy of ‘blackfishing’. However, it isn’t confirmed whether the screenshots are real.

Following the accusations and criticism, Jesy went on Instagram Live with Nicki Minaj – who features on her song.

The Boyz singer was defended by the Chun-Li rapper, who insulted Little Mix during the live.

Nicki said: “Immediately that person has to wear a big red clown nose and big clown boots because you’re a big f**ing clown.”

She went on: “Sweetheart take them text messages and shove it up ur f**king a**, because when you do clown s**t I gotta treat you and talk to you like you’re a clown.”

Nicki continued: “It screams insecurity, it screams that you’re jealous, only jealous people do things like this and now you just look like a big jealous bozo.”

Since the Instagram Live, Jesy has lost over 52,000 followers.

She lost the most followers the day after her Live, with 20,410 people unfollowing her at once.
