Kirsten Dunst On Possible Return As Mary Jane Watson For ‘Spider-Man’

Kirsten Dunst shared her thoughts on possibly returning as Mary Jane Watson in a new Spider-Man movie.

With a little over a month away from its release in theaters, Spider-Man: No Way Home remains the talk of the town for Marvel fans. Given the fact that the film is looking to explore the Multiverse thanks to the addition of Alfred Molina as Doc Ock and Jamie Foxx as Electro among other villains, fans are eager to see if Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will return as well. With the possibility of the two previous Peter Parkers returning, some have speculated that we will also be seeing Kirsten Dunst back as Mary Jane Watson.

Recently, Kirsten Dunst denied any involvement with Spider-Man: No Way Home, but while speaking with Variety at an AFI fest screening of her new film The Power of the Dog (which also stars Benedict Cumberbatch), she revealed that she would be down to return if asked:

“I would do it. Why not? That would be fun. I would never say no to something like that. I’d be old MJ at this point with little Spidey babies.”

It will be interesting to see how Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are implemented into Spider-Man: No Way Home if they are indeed part of the film. Even though Kirsten Dunst denied any involvement in it, seeing her return as Mary Jane Watson would add even more gravitas to the film given how she was the first big screen adaptation of the love of Peter Parker’s life.

Here is the synopsis for Spider-Man: No Way Home:

For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero is umasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero. When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.

Directed by Jon Watts from a script written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, Spider-Man: No Way Home stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, Martin Starr, J.B. Smoove, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau, Benedict Wong, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Alfred Molina.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will hit theaters on December 17, 2021.
