Taylor Swift reflects on ‘nostalgia’ of rerecording her albums

Taylor Swift fans have urged her Jake Gyllenhaal to stay off social media after the singer released a 15-minute video inspired by their failed romance.

The internet went into meme meltdown after the pop star released the re-recorded version of her 2012 album, Red, this week.

But in addition to 14 new tracks which were originally supposed to go on the album, Taylor also released a short film which is believed to be about her famous ex.

All Too Well, based on Taylor’s song of the same name, sees Stranger Things actor Sadie Sink and Maze runner star Dylan O’Brien play a couple whose relationship starts off well, but ends really badly.

This has led fans to speculate is it about Taylor’s own doomed three-month relationship with Hollywood actor Jake more than a decade ago.

Taylor Swift appears to take a swipe at Jake Gyllenhaal in short film

At the time they dated from October to December 2010, Jake was 30 and Taylor was 20.

It is said he failed to turn up to Taylor’s 21st birthday, leaving her in tears and ending the relationship.

The film appears to accuse Jake of gaslighting her when the man in the video says to his girlfriend: “I don’t think I’m making you feel that way. I think you’re making yourself feel that way.”

A lyric in Taylor’s All Too Well song also makes a dig at Jake’s preference for younger women when she says: “I’ll get older, but your lovers stay my age.

Jake is currently dating 25-year-old French model Jeanne Cadieu, who he has been in a relationship with since 2018.

Swifties took to Twitter to mock the Donnie Darko and Brokeback Mountain star, who reportedly broke up with Taylor because she was too young.

One said: “Jake Gyllenhaal turn off your phone for the weekend baby.”

Another wrote: “A bad week to be Jake Gyllenhaal.”

“Has Jake Gyllenhaal gone into witness protection yet?” a third joked.

Others made reference to the fact Jake was a better boyfriend than Taylor’s other ex John Mayer.

“If blondie dropped a short film to end Jake Gyllenhaal, imagine what she’s got up her sleeve for John Mayer,” one Twitter user said:

While another commented on the scarf Taylor refers to in the All Too Well song, which is apparently still in Jake’s drawer.

“Anyone else scouring the internet for photos of Jake Gyllenhaal in a scarf? Give it back, Jake.”

Jake and Taylor began dating in late 2010 after reportedly being introduced at a dinner party hosted by Gwyneth Paltrow and her then husband Chris Martin.

Their romance was said to be full swing by the time they were spotted backstage at Saturday Night Live in October of that year.

The actor is said to have made several huge gestures while he and Taylor were together.

He reportedly hired out an entire cinema so they could watch the Disney film Tangled without any interruptions.

And while he was promoting a new film in London Jake paid over £100,000 to fly Taylor over just so he could spend 24 hours with her, reports claim.

But it wasn’t meant to be and the couple split shortly after Taylor turned 21 in December 2010.

Taylor has since moved on and is now in a relationship with Joe Alwyn.
