Strictly pro dancers Janette Manrara and Aljaz Skorjanec, who have been together since 2009, tied the knot in 2017 with not one, but three incredible weddings ceremonies in London, Florida and Slovenia
Strictly Come Dancing stars Janette Manrara and Aljaz Skorjanec are the sweethearts of the BBC One show.
Unlike many couples on the show, the fan favourites have managed to consistently avoid the dreaded Strictly ‘curse’ thanks to their overwhelming love for one another.
Before they began dating, Janette dated former Strictly professional dancers Artem Chigvintsev and Pasha Kovalev, but the brief romances quickly fizzled out.
Aljaz and Janette first met at London studios Dance Attic in 2010, and went on to star alongside each other on the hit show Burn the Floor in the US.
The couple tried to make their long-distance relationship work, with Aljaz in his native Slovenia, and Janette in Los Angeles, but they were reunited in London when they landed a coveted spot as pro dancers on Strictly in 2013.
In 2015, Aljaz surprised the Cuban-American dancer by taking her to the dance studios where they first met, and getting down on bended knee.
Two years later, they tied the knot and as celebrated their union with family, friends, and their Strictly co-stars.

Three weddings, three countries
Janette and Aljaz are proud of their heritage, so when it came to their wedding day, the couple decided to have three wedding ceremonies in order to have all of their friends and family celebrate with them.
Their London nuptials included guests Anton Du Beke, Oti Mabuse, Katya Jones, and Kevin Clifton, as well as former Strictly contestants Daisy Lowe and Frankie Bridge.
Designer Julien Macdonald, who was paired with Janette on the hit BBC One show back in 2013, created her dream wedding dress for the London ceremony, which she said was inspired by Audrey Hepburn in the 1954 movie Sabrina.
They then jetted off to Slovenia for another ceremony with Aljaz’s family, before heading to Miami to celebrate with Janette’s loved ones.
“To say that we got to walk down the aisle, exchange our vows and celebrate our marriage three times is really nice,” she told OK! magazine.
Unusual wedding vows
Disney superfan Janette confessed Aljaz included an extra special wedding vow as they tied the knot, as he promised to take her to her favourite place every year.
She told Aimee Fuller’s Monday Mile podcast in September her husband has kept to his word after he vowed to take her to Disney “once a year”.
“I’ve definitely gone once every year of my life except for last year obviously because everything was shut,” she explained.
Love in lockdown
Janette revealed she and Aljaz “fell in love all over again” after being forced to spend some quality time together in 2020, during the Covid-19 lockdown.
The busy couple are usually whisked off their feet with their hectic schedules, so being able to spend time together without having to rush off for another work commitment did wonders for their relationship.
During an interview with FUBAR Radio, the couple acknowledge that while lockdown had been hard on many families, they are now closer than ever.
“I guess the light at the end of the tunnel for both of us has been that we’ve kind of fallen in love with each other all over again in a very different way,” Janette admitted.
Baby on the way?
Janette retired from the Strictly dance floor earlier this year and is now presenting It Takes Two, and the former pro teased the possibility of new additions to their family.
She told HELLO! they have discussed starting a family together, but due to their busy schedules, they’re finding it tricky to get the timing right.
“It’s never going to be the perfect time to have a baby but we do talk about it a lot and we are very much looking forward to becoming a mum and dad. So it’s definitely going to happen,” she promised.
“When, we don’t know, we’ll see. We’re kind of taking it slowly,” she added.
The couple live in London, not far from the Strictly studios, and they’ve occasionally given their social media followers rare glimpses into their personal space.
Janette confessed she has learnt to love their home over the last year, and said Aljaz is now a dab hand in the kitchen as he rustles up some tasty dishes.
“We’ve learned to live in our own home, which we never felt before. I like the kitchen, I was never friends with the kitchen before and Aljaz has loved just taking time to himself,” she told Dr Ranj on his podcast Steths, Drugs & Rock ‘n’ Roll.
Janette also gave her followers a treat when she showcased their coffee table, which features Aljaz’s prized Strictly Come Dancing glitterball, which he won with Abbey Clancy in 2013, along with a touching snap of the couple embracing.
Their home also features a lush garden, and eagle-eyed followers spotted the enviable green space in the background of one of Janette’s home workout clips on Instagram.
She also treated her fans to a peek at her bathroom, which she called her sanctuary, as she retreated into a well-deserved bath which she said was “heaven at home”.
Cosy nights in
The Strictly stars love nothing more than settling down on the sofa and watching their favourite TV shows, and they revealed they have eclectic tastes when it comes to bingeing on box sets.
“We love Gogglebox, Eggheads, Game of Thrones, House of Cards, Call the Midwife and Don’t Tell The Bride,” they joked.
“Definitely cuddling on the couch with the fire on watching an incredible TV series. Chilling at home is our favourite thing to do,” Aljaz sweetly added.
