Harry Kane has reportedly given his verdict on Antonio Conte’s appointment at Tottenham after the Italian called him “one of the best players in the world”.

Spurs announced Conte as their new manager on Tuesday morning and one of his biggest tasks will be to get the best out of the England captain, 28.

The forward has been Tottenham’s main source of goals since the 2014-15 campaign but has scored just once in nine Premier League games this term.

Kane was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City throughout the recent summer transfer window, yet he remained in North London after deadline day.

The player hasn’t spoken publicly since previous Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo was fired on Monday and many are curious to know if he’ll perform under Conte.

According to football.london, Kane is very excited about the prospect of working with the illustrious coach over the coming weeks.

Last season’s Premier League Golden Boot winner is thought to be happy about the ambition shown by club chief Daniel Levy, aiming to stop their recent decline.

Tottenham haven’t competed in the Champions League since the 2019-20 campaign and could only manage Europa Conference League qualification last term.

Several other members of the squad are also said to be thrilled about working under Conte, who is widely regarded as one of the best coaches in the game.

The 52-year-old began his managerial career at minnows Arezzo in 2006 but has since gone on to coach Juventus, Chelsea, Inter Milan and the Italian national team.

Conte’s honours include four Serie A titles, the Premier League, FA Cup and the prestigious LMA Manager of the Year Award.

The likes of Kane are reportedly excited about the high energy, pressing and forward thinking football Tottenham’s new manager will deploy.

Conte has been very complementary of Kane in recent years, lauding him at his unveiling and after England’s semi-final victory against Denmark at Euro 2020.

The Italian said: “Many praise Harry Kane for his ability to go get the ball and play with the team, such as with the equaliser against Denmark.

“But it’s in the box where he’s clinical and as a coach, I would always keep him in there because he’s devastating.”

Conte was also full of praise in 2017 when he was manager of Chelsea, telling reporters: “For me, Kane, now is one of the best strikers in the world.

“If I had to buy one striker I would go to Kane. He is a complete striker.”
