Game of Thrones star Kit Harington’s ancestral home is available for fans to hire for accommodation – but at the steep price of £4,500 per night.

The 34-year-old TV star is a descendant of Guy Fawkes’s co-conspirator, Robert Catesby – who was shot dead aged 32 in 1605 following a failed plot to blow up the UK parliament.

And the home of Robert, the Manor House in Ashby St Ledgers, is available to rent out via Airbnb – which current owners Henry and Nova Guest bought it in 2015.

Historically, the home was the base for Robert and his co-conspirators, including Guy, who planned to kill King James I of the United Kingdom – with the infamous gunpowder plot hatched by Robert himself.

Kit is related to Robert via his mother Deborah Jane Catesby’s side of the family – with the actor himself named Christopher Catesby Harington.

The actor has capitalised on his connections to the Guy Fawkes gunpowder plot – playing his anscenstor in the BBC drama Gunpowder in 2017.

And the didn’t shy away from the gristly details of history – as Guy himself was executed in 1606 and his dead body quartered and sent across the UK as a warning to other treason plotters.

While Robert was shot dead and later decapitated – with his head exhibited outside parliament.

Promoting Gunpowder, Kit said at the time: “I always knew the connection would be quite a good one to promote it with.

“We did the research on how people were hung, drawn and quartered.

“It was important for the story because right from the start we need to know why Robert Catesby embarks upon this very, very violent act.

“At the time, Catholics were being persecuted and there is nothing in this which is not historically accurate.

“So we needed to see something quite violent from the start which makes us understand why this man might do what he does.”
