Former Love Island star Dani Dyer says she gained three stone while pregnant with son Santiago – and admits she often compares herself to people on social media
Dani Dyer has opened up about her body insecurities.
The mum-of-one, 25, gave birth to her son Santiago in January.
And she has confessed her post-pregnancy weight gain made her compare herself to others on social media.
“It is hard to learn how to love yourself. It takes a lot of time. I still have them. I have days where I feel awful. Especially after I had Santi, I had that little stage … I put on three stone,” she said on her podcast Sorted with the Dyers, which she does with her actor father Danny.
The former Love Island star said it is common for women to “put on two stone” during pregnancy.
Dani added: “You’re only meant to put on two stone, apparently from Google.”
The honest mum boasts 3.4million followers on her Instagram, but says she still compares herself to others on the platform.
She continued: “We all have our own insecurities, it is hard. I’m like it on Instagram, comparing all the time. But that person on Instagram also has insecurities. You don’t want to be an egotistical person that thinks they’re perfect.”
In recent weeks, Dani opened up about her son’s father, Sammy Kimmence, being jailed for fraud.
She split from him in July after he was imprisoned for 42 months when he pleaded guilty to defrauding two pensioners out of £34,000.
Dani told The Sun: “When the awful things Sammy did came out in court and we split up, I was devastated. But I don’t want to say any more than that because he will always be Santi’s dad.
“I’m very conscious that when Santi is older, he will be able to find and read the things I say now, and if he does, I don’t want to make that any more painful for him than it needs to be.”
Meanwhile, she has moved on with a new boyfriend – West Ham footballer Jarrod Bowen.
“Everything is so early days. Jarrod is a lovely guy and we’re enjoying getting to know each other,” she said in an interview.
It seems to be going so well that EastEnders pub landlord Danny has given him the nod.
Speaking with Heat magazine, she said: “Santi will always be my main priority, he will always come first. I am concentrating on being a mum and beyond that, whatever happens, happens.”
“My dad thinks Jarrod’s a lovely guy,” she said.
“Hes invested in all of the West Ham players because he supports the team and follows some of them. So he’s like, ‘They’re all my friends.’ And I’m like, ‘Right, OK, Dad.'”
She added: “He’s always been such a big football fan. As soon as Santi was born, the West Ham babygros were coming in from Grandad.”
