Arsenal were comfortably beaten 4-0 by Liverpool on Saturday in a display that highlighted plenty of issues that Mikel Arteta will need to solve in the January transfer window
Arsenal’s ten-game unbeaten run came to an end at Anfield on Saturday afternoon after they were convincingly beaten 4-0 by Liverpool, and many feel that could kickstart a busy January.
Goals from Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah and Takumi Minamino sealed the deal for Jurgen Klopp’s side which saw them close the gap slightly on league leaders Chelsea.
Mikel Arteta’s side looked solid in the first half but self-destructed after the half-time break, with many questioning the experience and mentality of the side.
Over the summer, the Gunners identified their issues and spent big to solve them and there is every chance they may be just as active in the January transfer window.
Here are the club’s latest transfer rumours.
Palace enter the race for Pepe
Since he arrived from Lille in 2019 for £72million, Nicolas Pepe has struggled to make an impact at the Emirates Stadium.
The Ivorian winger has started just five games so far this season and many are questioning whether the club needs to cut their losses on the forward due to the good form of Emile Smith-Rowe and Bukayo Saka.
Pepe is reportedly being eyed up by both Crystal Palace and AC Milan in January, according to Il Milanista.
It has previously been reported that Milan are keeping tabs on the 26-year-old and hoping that he remains out of favour in north London so that they have every chance of signing the forward on a cut-price fee when the transfer window opens, with a figure of £20m suggested to be enough to conclude the deal.
Arsenal face competition for Juventus ace
Arsenal have joined the race to sign Juventus midfielder Arthur, according to CalcioMercato.
The Brazilian is thought to be available for £29.5m and has experience at the very top level, but the Gunners face competition from Newcastle and Leeds to sign the midfielder.
Arthur joined Juve from Barcelona in 2020 as part of a swap deal with Miralem Pjanic but has failed to nail down a starting spot at the Allianz Arena.
The 25-year-old has played just 143 minutes of Serie A football so far this campaign and would probably be in favour of a move to the Emirates if the opportunity did arise.

Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund appear to have taken the initiative in their pursuit of Fiorentina forward Dusan Vlahovic, who has been linked with Arsenal previously.
According to CalcioMercato, Dortmund have offered the Serie A side £30m plus Donyell Malen for the Serbian.
Vlahovic scored 21 goals in 34 appearances for Fiorentina last season and has begun the new campaign in the same rich vein of form with eight goals in 12 games.
The 21-year-old has previously been linked with Arsenal and Tottenham, as well as other top clubs around Europe who are keen on the talented prospect.
