3 more Skoda Kushaq owners report breakdowns even after fuel pump replacement

Some Skoda Kushaq owners are facing EPC(Electronic Power Control) issues. Skoda did say that the EPC issues are because of fuel pumps and they have replaced them with a more robust unit. However, there are still some people who are facing EPC issues even with the robust fuel pump.

The first issue was reported on Twitter by user Suman Mandal. He faced the EPC issue in just 40 days of buying the Kushaq and his fuel pump was replaced recently, but he again faced the same EPC error and the car broke down.

Dipanjan Purkait also reported his issue on Facebook. He reported that his Kushaq also showed an EPC error but the car did not break down. There was also no error in Skoda Connect which is a connected car application by Skoda Auto.

His Kushaq is also fitted with the robust fuel pump but still, the EPC error popped up in the instrument cluster. Dipanjan has informed the issue service centre but it is closed because of the Durga Pooja festival that is going on in Kolkata. He is using the 1.0 TSI with a manual gearbox.

Then there is a tweet from Prarabdh Sharma. He has been asked for the fourth time to visit the service centre since he bought his Kushaq. The service centre has already replaced the fuel pump with a more robust unit but still, the EPC error came on the instrument cluster. He is also facing some other issues like brake noise and rattling noise. The service centre has forwarded the feedback to the technical team about the rattling issue and has told Prarabdh to make a video recording of the brakes.

Some customers on the other hand have reported that the EPC light turned off once they got their ECU updated from the service centre. Zac Hollis, Skoda’s director of Sales, Service & Marketing has said that EPC errors came from bad fuel quality, software errors, engine management issues and rat bites. He also said that there are no issues with the robust fuel pump.

Also, a customer spotted an EPC light during PDI or Pre-delivery Inspection of his Kushaq. The dealership said that they have not yet checked the vehicle and will remove the error before the delivery. So, they might fit the robust fuel pump and update the software before delivering the SUV to the customer.

These issues are only on the 1.0-litre TSI engine. Skoda said that the stock fuel pump is failing because of the varied fuel quality that we get in our country. The engine produces 115 PS of max power and 178 Nm of peak torque. It is offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

The engine puts out 150 PS of max power and 250 Nm of peak torque. It is offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed DSG gearbox.
